“Off the Beaten Path: An Iceland Elopement Story”
Kristen and Kevin crafted a breathtaking elopement journey through Iceland’s rugged backcountry, exchanging vows surrounded by towering waterfalls, seaside cliffs, and dramatic volcanic landscapes for an unforgettable adventure.
I feel truly honoured that I was there to help capture their dream wedding with timeless photos that they can share forever.

Around every corner and turn on the island, you’re simply in awe of the natural beauty in front of you. The vibrant green hills and waterfalls are absolutely mind-blowing—it’s one of the most breathtaking wedding backdrops you’ll ever witness.
Why they chose Iceland
If you are ever considering a wedding or adventure session in Iceland I can only say that it’s simply magical. Kristen was kind enough to explain why they choose this surreal country for their wedding :
“Iceland holds a special place in our hearts. Kevin and I have been on many adventures over the years, but Iceland was our favourite place to visit. We drove the Ring Road our first visit and couldn’t get over the dramatically beautiful landscape. It seemed like each bend in the road made us say “Wow”!
This made Iceland an easy pick for our elopement. We wanted to have a ceremony outdoors, somewhere jaw-droppingly beautiful and off the beaten path. Iceland has a LOT of options for this! I picked our ceremony location after scrolling through our wedding planner’s IG page. Once I saw the beauty of all those waterfalls and the beautiful blue of the water, I knew that was our spot.
The fact that we needed an off-road vehicle to get there just sealed the deal. 🤣
We couldn’t have done this without our wedding planner, Pink Iceland. They were so organized, kind and set me at ease. I needed that as planning an elopement across the world was challenging!”
Some of the locations we visited
- Landmannalaugar
- Þjórsárdalur
- Sigöldugljufur
- Búðakirkja
- Arnarstapi
- Kirkjufell / Kirkjufellfoss

Three full days of incredible moments included staying in beautiful panoramic glass lodges beneath the stars near Hekla, and sharing their vows beside a waterfall at Sigöldugljúfur in the southern part of the island.
The final day was spent exploring Snæfellsnes and staying at the world-class Hotel Búðir. Located just two hours north of Reykjavík, this part of the island felt so different—and equally magical. Rich with lava rock and surrounded by the sea, it was the perfect ending to our time together.
Thank you so much Kevin and Kristen for allowing me to be a small part of this adventure. It was a mind-blowing adventure!
