Backpacking in Peru
I had the extreme honour recently to spend some time and do portraits of internationally renowned Peruvian artist Victor Delfin. When I first met Victor he was sitting in his chair reading his newspaper while the light just seemed to hit him perfectly, I was immediately drawn to him. He has this kind and expressive face and like his art I found him so full of energy and life. On the night of one of his exhibitions I was toured through his home and studio and was so impressed with his body of work, his unique style and such vivid sculptures and paintings. His studio and home is also something of a piece art, perched atop the cliffs facing the Pacific ocean in the Barranca district it truly is a muse and inspiration for his art. As some of you may know the Barranca district is also where you’ll find many of Lima’s artists, the colourful buildings, parks lined with artwork and of course the famous Bridge of Sighs, it’s an amazing part of town.
I was also so very lucky to stay at his wonderful home which is hosted by his amazing daughter, Lilian where they have built an addition and B&B called Second Home Peru atop the cliff on the edge of the families land . I can say without hesitation that Second Home was one the nicest place I’ve ever stayed and the grounds being filled with Victors artwork truly made this a one of a kind place to stay. Only steps away from the Bridge of Sighs and so many great sights it was a fantastic experience!
Please enjoy a few images from our time together and I can’t say thank you again for such a memorable time.
