As I sit at my desk recovering from the flu I’m given great warmth when I have the chance to revisit the year that was 2012. A year that brought some amazing experiences, fantastic travels and the announcement that my family will be getting a little bit larger in the new year. In fact it’s just a matter of weeks if not days before Colleen and I welcome our third little rugrat.
I look back at the events and the imagery from 2012 and all I can think to myself is that I’m very fortunate to have great clients and great friends. Aside from working here in Edmonton I also traveled to Europe, to Central America, USA, and all over Canada and each adventure brought me new experiences and some new artwork. I can’t thank everyone enough for making 2012 a great success and I’m so very excited for 2013.
Some special highlightes this year included some personal accomplishments with three awards being won in the ISPWP competition, seven awards in the PWPC, and a Fearless photographers award. This was the first year I had entered my wedding photography in any competitions and being recognized was a great honour and one that I credit my couples as they made it possible.
I want to make a few special mentions to some people that truly helped make this year a very memorable and special time.
To Shelley Derksen and the wonderful staff at F2 furnishings I can’t say thank enough for your continued support of my travel artwork which is so proudly displayed at your Store.
To Paula Scherr, a wonderful and talented photographer from http://nemusphotography.com who shot with me most of this year and brought a new vision to my work.
To Kelly Redinger who worked alongside me on our podcast, the lonely photographers and traveled to Scotland, Amsterdam, Vancouver and Las Vegas with me and really saved my bacon on a few occasions.
To Blush and Weddingbells for honouring my couples by printing their weddings in the pages of each wonderful magazine respectively.
And of course to my lovely wife Colleen. She continues to support me in my dream and makes the cutest kids!
In this post you will find a great selection of highlights from 2012 and within most of the images you can see the entire blog entry simply by clicking the photo or the wedding video I put together from Cuba at the very begining of the following images I do apologize if I haven’t yet completed all the blog entries but I plan on completing that in the next few months.

I am also so pleased to share some of the travel photos I took this year. With two trips to Mexico, one to Cuba, Scotland and Amsterdam you would think I had taken more shots but the truth is decided this year to take a small break from travel photography and simply enjoy my time away, see with my eyes and enjoy each day without carrying a large slr. Most of the images below were taken with the Fujix100 and is really one of the best little digital cameras I have ever seen.
One last thing. I was introduced to AIRBNB this year and if you have not heard of it yet you should check it out. It’s the best thing I have ever seen when looking to rent an apartment rather than a hotel or vacation rental. We used it all though Europe and then when I was in New York for work, Sublets in NYC are known to be tricky, but it was incredible and perfect.
What kind of dad and husband would I be if I didn’t include some pictures of my beautiful and crazy family! We had a great year watching my daughter and son become mini-me’s to both Colleen and I. Wynter has quickly turned into a beautiful little dancer and camper and Keir is the coolest little guy I know on his bike, a lot like his dad.lol Sadly I noticed that Colleen and I almost have no photos of us together but I promised her that we would have some family photos taken of our whole crew next year so stay tuned.
